Elders from Garissa County want the audio that is alleged to be recorded by the Majority Leader Aden Duale to be properly investigated by the police.
Led by former Garissa County Council Chairman Amey Dubat, the elders said that the government should do proper investigations to the audio and come up with clean results.
“The government has the machinery and institutions to investigate if somebody has committed a crime. We don’t want political mob justice. I want us to remain calm,” said Dubat.
He further added that those who are using the audio to gain political mileage should refrain from doing so, since this creates incitement among the peace-loving people of Garissa.
“Some of our leaders have no agenda and should (therefore) not use such (incidences) to incite communities against each other. This must stop,” added Dubat.
Hussein Bare Shill said that the Somali community is not ready to fight with the Kamba community, and they will continue living peacefully together in Garissa County.
“I want to assure the Kamba community that we are not at war with them. We will live together with peace and harmony," said Shill.
