Rift Valley Council of elders led by their Patron Gilbert Kabage addressing media in Nakuru .The Rift valley council of elders has called on the clergy to desist from taking sides amidst the rising political temperatures in the country. Addressing journalists in Nakuru town , the elders said that just like judges and magistrates, religious leaders should remain neutral despite the direction of politics in the country.Council Patron Gilbert Kabage singled out NCCK, which he said appears to be politically compromised given the statements that have come from its leadership of late. Kabage said that religious leaders are expected to offer guidance and wise counsel.“It is regeratable that young politicians have taken it upon themselves to insult those in power instead of respecting the government of the day,”he said. The council secretary Peter Charagu said that the struggle for independence in Kenya was out of great sacrifice and its only out of this realization that Kenyans across the board should make a wise decision while voting. He called on Opposition leader Raila Odinga to call off demonstrations  which he said are only working to destroy the economy.
