Isiolo Council of Elders are cautioning political leaders against public utterances that could divide communities especially during this electioneering periods.
Speaking at Al Falah Islamic Centre in Isiolo town, the elders urged the politicians to be very keen when doing their campaigns and work hard to ensure the communities remain united.
The council's Treasurer, Ahmed Set told the politicians seeking different posts in this year's elections not to form councils for their own gain.
"We are worried that some politicians are using divisive language and might cause disharmony in our county as we head to the August elections. We would like to see politicians who are serving their people and not campaigning for their own benefits," said Set.
They also urged youths to be very active and alert during this times of elections and they should not be used by politicians to cause chaos and disrupt the security of the town.
The Council consisted of elders from Turkana, Somali, Borana, Samburu and Meru communities.
