Eldoret Human Rights Activist Ken Wafula has asked the State to expedite investigations into the killing of veteran Journalist John Kituyi last Thursday.

Speaking to Journalists in Eldoret town on Sunday, Wafula condemned the killing and urged the State to fasten the probe.

Wafula said that the killing of the Journalist has raised fears among members of the Press operating in Eldoret.

“The State must investigate and take action against killers of Mr. Kituyi,” said Wafukla adding that the veteran Journalist was a hardworking man.

The Activist also urged the State to investigate claims that some Journalists are being threatened by  some prominent people.

He stated that press freedom should not be violated by anyone and that those threatening Journalists should be arrested and prosecuted without any favouritism.

The Activist urged the Press to continue with their work of informing, educating and entertaining the public saying that media is an important part of the society whose freedom and rights must be protected at all costs.

The veteran journalist was killed by unknown people last week Thursday meters from his home. He was allegedly hit on the head by a blunt object which lead to his death.

On Sunday Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials visited the home of the deceased as investigations into the matter still in progress. No arrests have been made so far.

The killing of Journalist Kituyi has received condemnation all over the world with leaders calling for the arrest of perpetrators.
