A section of business owners in Eldoret town are counting loses after a fierce fire burnt down a popular bar and several electronics shops in the Central Business District (CBD).

The midnight fire started at the Whells Pub and Restaurant before quickly spreading to nearby mobile phone-selling shops and two Pharmacies.

"It was hard to control the fire because all the other shops were closed except for the bar that was open," said one of the eye witnesses.

The cause of the, Wednesday, fire that caused loss of millions of unknown worth of valuables is yet to be established.

Police have launched investigation into the incident.
