The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (Adak) has put on notice pharmacists selling prohibited substances to athletes.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town, ADAK Chief Executive Japther Rugut revealed that they had launched a crackdown targeting to arrest and prosecute all chemists that might be selling the banned substances to athletes in the North Rift.
"Any person or body such as a pharmacist or medical practitioners who unlawfully stocks supplies of products containing prohibited substances commits an offense under the section 42 (2) and 42 (4) of the anti-doping act and shall be liable to the act," said Rugut.
He noted those convicted shall be liable to a fine not exceeding Sh3 million or not less than three years in jail or both fine and imprisonment.
“Those pharmacist or medical practitioners found will have their license revoked for a period of not less than one year," Rugut added.
He also said ADAK in collaboration with Pharmacist and Poisons Board (PPB) were conducting a sting operation to find those culprits selling prohibited substances.
"We have arrested one culprit and they will face the full arm of the law," said the ADAK boss.
He also asked athletes to refrain from taking the banned substances and focus on winning clean.
