A section of church leaders in Uasin Gishu County have come out strongly to condemn the mistreatment and re-deportation of the controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna by the government agents.
This comes as Christians across the country congregated in various churches for Good Friday to mark the end of fasting and commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
In Eldoret members of AIC Fellowship and the Eldoret catholic church cathedral observed Good Friday with processions carrying the cross and conducting church service.
Fr Timothy Kiplagat of the Eldoret Sacred Heart Cathedral said that claims by the immigration department that Miguna Miguna was not a Kenyan citizen are misleading because he was cleared and qualified as any other Kenyan citizen to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the previous elections.
"When he was cleared to participate in the August 8 poll, was he a Kenyan citizen or a Canadian as the government now insists?" Fr. Kiplagat said.
"In my opinion I think the government is being insincere in this Miguna Miguna circus," he added.
Rev Tom Nyawanga of AIC church Fellowship Annex on his part said the mishandling of Miguna Miguna at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has portrayed the government in a negative picture internationally.
The two church leaders however asked Kenyan political leaders to unite and stop endless bickering that affects development and causes disunity amongst Kenyans.
They urged Christians to remain focused and demonstrate Jesus love in their actions.
