Bini said the move was uncalled for and an extra burden to the taxpayers.

“As religious leaders, we are really disappointed with the MP's move and we condemn it with the strongest terms possible,” said Bini in Eldoret town, Monday.

The Uasin Gishu CIPK Chairman wondered why the legislators would pass such a bill hastily but when it comes to issues that benefit the common mwananchi they abscond.

“Why should MPs be paid a lot of money after retiring yet at the moment they are receiving a lot of money? Such money should be channeled to projects that will help common mwananchi,” added Bini.

The vocal clergy proposed that the MPs salaries and pensions be reduced. He says most of them earn a higher salary but do nothing that benefits the community.

Bini, however, warned politicians against involving themselves in the 2022 succession politics saying politics has now gone and it’s time to work for the electorates.
