Uasin Gishu Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini has criticized the manner in which Deputy President William Ruto was handled while visiting the retired President Daniel Moi.
Bini said the DP was handled disrespectfully while at Mzee Moi's Kabarak home on Thursday.
“As religious leaders, we are not happy with the way Deputy President was handled. How can a whole DP be kept waiting for two hours only to be told that he cannot see Mzee Moi because he is under medication?” noted Bini in Eldoret town, Friday.
The Uasin Gishu CIPK chairman wondered why the head of protocols for the retired president did not inform DP Ruto that he could not see him instead of keeping him for that long.
“I read malice in this and if anyone was used to orchestrate for the DP to be turned away, he/she should be made to account for the action," he added.
The Muslim leader also called upon those involved in the fiasco to publically apologize to the Deputy President.
He, however, warned Kenyans against politicizing the matter saying it might lead to further divisions amongst Kenyans.
