Church leaders from Uasin Gishu county have faulted political leaders allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) who have expressed displeasure following a surprise meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Led by African Inland Church (AIC) Fellowship Rev. Tom Nyawanga, the leaders said politicians opposing the Uhuru-Raila meeting should reconsider their stand and support the initiative which they said would enhance cohesion in the country.
Speaking during the fists anniversary of AIC fellowship, Annex in the outskirts of Eldoret town, Rev. Nyawanga asked politicians allied to both Jubilee and NASA to conduct joint peace meetings across the country.
He said the meeting between the two political nemeses should be emulated by all politicians and Kenyans across the county.
"We are so happy that the leaders have come together and we want to give them an extra challenge that they come out, visit areas that have been witnessing political animosity so that they speak together to the people,” said Rev Nyawanga.
"Those leaders opposed to the meeting should drop their hard stands and work towards supporting peace and unity in the country as the President and opposition leaders have shown the way," he added.
