Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has cautioned residents against conmen/women purporting to sell land and houses that do not exist.
Hassan says the illegal business has been rampant especially in the Eldoret town Central Business District (CBD).
“I want to caution Uasin Gishu residents that there are conmen selling air in the name of plots and houses, I want you to stay vigilant to avoid being conned since people are being conned in broad daylight,” Hassan said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.
He advised residents to ensure they go to the Land registry and do a search of the land they want to buy to know if it is genuine or not before committing to buy from anyone.
“I give a stern warning to individuals with such individuals that your days are numbered since we know you and where you are hiding and soon you will be brought to book. I will do all I can to ensure that the illegal business is a thing of the past,” added the County Commissioner.
He, however, urged residents to act as watchdogs by reporting people involved in the illegal business promising to take stern actions against those found.
