Uasin Gishu County government will partner with Old Mutual Insurance Company to renovate the Eldoret District Hospital, which is dilapidated.
According to the CeC in charge of Health Margaret Chepkwony, the partnership will ensure that the hospital is painted and roofed afresh.
"The district hospital is among the oldest facilities in the county with an estimated daily workload of more than 800 patients. Patients need to be treated in a good environment," she said on Tuesday after UAP Old Mutual Foundation paid her a courtesy call and thereafter inspected the facility.
She added that the move is an ideal idea that will see the hospital staff serve the public better.
"A good working environment is our concern on matters health since it will support us in both patients and staff safety," said Chepkwony.
The management committee chair, UAP Old Mutual Foundation Mr Francis Kianga, said they picked the district hospital because it had the highest impact to the community.
"Our initiative will support the county in provision of community healthcare to its citizens and ensure they are treated in a better place," he added.
