The families lamented that despite visits by both the county and national government officials, nothing has been done.

“It’s sad that despite the area MP, MCA, Red Cross and County government officials promising that they will help us we, have received totally nothing and as I am talking we don’t have even a place to sleep because our houses are filled with water,” said Pamela Cherop at Saroiyot, Tuesday.

“We have young children who have not eaten for three days we are really suffering and if it was possible, we could start eating ourselves since no one wants to help us,” added Ruth Chepkemboi.

They said despite the Red Cross officials writing their names promising to evacuate them to safer places, it has borne no fruits leaving them to sleep in water-filled rooms.

However, the Uasin Gishu County Executive in charge of Water and Environment Mary Njogu said that they will ensure that the displaced families are helped and called on other well-wishers to come to their rescue.
