What trended on social media especially Twitter recently with the #IfikieWazazi has ignited fury among some of the gospel artists in Eldoret town.
According to Pst. Abijah Sitienei, an Eldoret based artist, there is a need for parents and the clergy to make keen following on their children on what they do on a day to day activities especially with the digital world.
"Most of us are aware of what was trending on social media which is against our nature, culture and also against Christianity," noted Pst. Abijah.
"This is a wake-up call up to the parents, guardians and even the church that there is something wrong with this 'social media generation' that we need to fix with urgency," she added.
The artist challenged the youth to consult their seniors on what should be done in social media in order to improve the current generation's morality.
"I personally have decided to take this online campaign to help the youth such that some may get saved when they watch instead of what they are watching nowadays," added Pst. Abijah when she launched her Youtube channel.
She also challenged fellow gospel artists to use social media in promoting good morals amongst the young generation across the country.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Titus Agui amongst other artists.
"We need to be one as artists and see how we can positively change our society," he said while expressing concerns that some parents have forgotten their responsibilities of taking care of their children, a matter he noted was against the Christian teachings and African culture.
