Uasin Gishu county government has urged hawkers to use designated market places to sell their produce so as to avoid confrontation with the law enforcers."We have the Kahoya market which costed Sh150 million and another wholesale market that was constructed for Sh100 million. We want to advise the hawkers to relocate to these constructed premises where they can conduct their business as they were put up for that purpose," Deputy governor Daniel Chemno said in Eldoret on Monday.Chemno further insisted that the county will not rest until all hawkers were fully evicted from operating in the Eldoret town.He reaffirmed their dedication to ensure law and order is restored in the town."Some hawkers in Eldoret are conducting their businesses right outside other traders premises who have paid rent and business licenses which in turn results to poor return for their products and services they offer," said the deputy governor.Hawkers have complained that the designated markets cannot accommodate 6,000 traders and that some markets are located away from market flow.The governor Jackson Mandago-led administration and hawkers have been involved in a stalemate after videos emerged online showing county Askari's and administration police beating up the hawkers.
