The body of the late former powerful minister Nicholas Biwott on Wednesday arrived at the Eldoret airstrip ahead of the burial scheduled for Thursday at his rural home in Toot village, Elgeyo Marakwet county.Hundreds of family members, close friends, local politicians and residents turned up to received the body of Biwott who died last week at Nairobi Hospital following long illness.Two planes, one carrying the body of the 'Total Man' and the other carrying family members among them his wife Hannie Kiprono Biwott touched down at the Eldoret airstrip at 10am.

The body was later transported to Biwott Mixed Day school in Elgeyo Marakwet for a church service.According to the burial planning committee secretary Albert Kochei who is the Elgeyo Marakwet county Assembly Speaker, residents will also be allowed to view the body today."After arriving at Eldoret Airstrip, the body of the late Nicholas Biwott will travel by road vie Elgeyo Border through Chebior for a Church Service at Biwott Mixed Day Secondary. We have set tomorrow (Wednesday) to be a special day for county residents to eulogise their fallen legend," Kochei said on Tuesday. Biwott served as the Keiyo South MP for 28 years and was also a powerful minister during the retired President Daniel Moi's regime.
