The lawyer, Kiprotich Cherargei argues that the VC disregarded the institution's rules on appointments and hiring, and now want the court to give orders to have the VC step down as investigations are conducted.

The lawyer has also sued the university's council which he wants disbanded.

“The VC's integrity, transparency and accountability are all in question and she cannot be allowed to continue holding a public office,” said Cherargei after filing the suit.

Cherargei cites a case of appointment of five Administration Police officers - he says were hired irregularly- who were approved by the VC to serve the university and now earn big salaries.

“She also approved irregularly the reinstatement of Prof. James Ole Keiyapi who had resigned to run for an elective post,” he said.

The VC is also being accused of nepotism and biasness in appointments, which has led to protests in the school.
