Lawyers and a section of civil society groups in Eldoret town on Wednesday held a peaceful demonstration in the town as part of the ongoing national wide protest following the brutal murder of human rights lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and a taxi driver.
The lawyers marched through the streets of Eldoret town carrying placards condemning the police for extra judicial killings.
Led by the North Rift Law Society of Kenya North Rift chairman Zephaniah Yego, the lawyers together with the Civil society groups also presented written memorandum to the Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Nyaga Muchungu, County AP Commandant and the County Commissioner Abdi Hassan.
Speaking to the press during the protest, Yego expressed optimism that concerns raised in their memorandum will be looked into seriously.
"As much as this incident took place far away from us, we are protesting in solidarity of our colleague and believe the concerns raised will be addressed so that a similar incident does not happen," said Yego.
The lawyers across the are on a one week boycott to protest Willie Kimani's and two others last week murder leaving the courts deserted.
