Residents of Cheros village on the outskirts of Eldoret town on Sunday woke up to a shocking news that a man had taken over his brother's wife.
This follows the Saturday night UEFA champions league final that saw Real Madrid beat Liverpool to win the title in a record, three consecutive times.
Sources indicate that the two brothers, Kiprotich Rono and Yegon Toilem had placed a bet that if Real Madrid won the title, then Yegon would take Rono's wife. The two brothers are believed to be staunch football fanatics and they definitely had to do this in a different and interesting way.
Prior to placing the unusual bet, the two are said to have argued on the ability of Real Madrid to record their third consecutive win and agreed to place the bet.
After the match that ended at around midnight, Yegon is said to have confidently walked into his brother's house at 12:45 am and went away with his brother's wife because in any case, they had made an agreement.
“We made a joint agreement and I had to do the exact thing that we agreed on with my brother. I know it sounds awkward but honestly, I had no other option," said Yegon.
The two brothers parents' have however asked them to reconsider the action and find another option to pay the bet win.
It now remains to be seen as to whether Yegon will return his brother's wife and probably agree on the other means of paying back.
