Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga has decried increased cases of criminals robbing M-Pesa shops in Eldoret town and its environs.

He said  it is the main target of criminals since  it’s a soft landing

“I have received hundreds of cases of people complaining about the same. I want to urge M-Pesa shops operators to be very careful while transacting their business since there are some criminals who purport to be criminals and at long run steal from them,” he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

“The cases are rampant in Eldoret town and its environment but as the security personnel, we will deal with those criminals ruthlessly. We won't stay mum while our businessmen and women are being terrorized by thieves,” he added.

He, however, urged M-Pesa operators to ensure they bank their money after closing their shops or have a security guard who will escort you with their amount.

“We are urging them to be cautious especially when dealing with suspicious customers and should report him or her to the nearest police station,” noted Mutunga.
