Police and officers from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) are still searching for five suspects wanted for propagating hate speech on social media.
The five have gone into the hiding after two others were arrested and charged in court over ethic contempt this week.
One of the suspect, Meshack Kipkorir, a college student, was arraigned in an Eldoret court early this week where he denied charges of ethnic contempt against him and was released on a Sh1 million bond.According to Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan, police in collaboration with NCIC officers have intensified crackdown on those involved in propagating hate speech and incitements on social media platforms.
"Whatever is being said on that social media is a threat to our security and this is why monitoring has been intensified ahead of the elections," said Hassan.
"We have also equipped our officers with gadgets to monitor hate speech from politicians and will now be able to provide concrete evidence of the voice and face of the suspect," he added.
