The students blocked the Langas-Eldoret town route and pelted stones at public service vehicles belonging to Langas Sacco, saying it knocked down a student and sped away at their institutions’ gate.

Police had to use teargas to disperse the students who had also started attacking other private vehicles and passers-by.

Speaking to the press, Sawe regretted the incident, saying that hooligans had taken advantage of the situation.

“They had issues concerning the Langas matatus which have been hitting them while trying to cross the road,” Sawe said.

“We have also talked to the county roads department to help us erect the bumps and appropriate signs on the road near the school,” he added.

Sawe said the students were preparing for the July examinations and there was no way the school could be closed.

“It was nothing serious but they took their demonstration outside the school. We will talk to them and learning will continue as usual," he said.
