Eldoret is expected to be soon elevated to become Kenya's fourth City, with infrastructure forming an integral part in this.

An inter-agencies forum was held at an Eldoret hotel, a meeting that brought together regional managers from state-owned parastatals, security, energy, business community among others.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, his deputy Daniel Chemno and County Executive for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Eng Gideon Birir were among officials who attended the meeting.

Governor Mandago's biggest and most important agenda is that infrastructural designs as roads and sewer lines be hastened before the town is declared a city.

He called on stakeholders to closely work with his administration in the realization of the set agendas.

"There's much value when it comes to working together unlike working separately...whether working with national or county government, when it comes to development meant for wananchi, artificial boundaries are not of importance,” said Mandago.

The vocal county boss reiterated the need to value the works handled by local contractors, noting that in most cases their works are the ones to watch and that they are readily available when they are called to rework on notable areas.

He challenged the agencies to frequently hold meetings to solve or initiate new findings that will help the sectors grow.

On matters approval of house-related constructions by planners, the County Chief asked them to avoid reckless approvals that may later interfere with town planning.

"The negligence done by the government planners will soon hit on them. We will not allow unreasonable approvals that will, in the end, incur losses to people," he said.

The Jubilee governor further said the national government and counties are pumping many resources into infrastructure, therefore, KURA, KeNHA, among others, need to do commendable work.

"Eldoret is a champion in many ways, it is, therefore, quite crucial that it is offered the best designs for flyovers and roundabouts," said Mandago.
