The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) has received drugs donation worth Sh2 billion from Eli Lilly and Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB) in the United States of America.
The value of the donations has been increasing over the years. Eli Lilly and CMMB have been supporting MTRH for the last 18 years.
Speaking after receiving the drugs at the hospital premises, the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa thanked the donors for their noble course.
“I want to sincerely thank the donors for coming with the idea of donating the assorted drugs which will go a long way in supporting the fight against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) which is among the major cause of deaths,” he said, Saturday.
“The drugs will be used to treat Mental Health, Cancer and diabetes-related diseases,” added Dr. Aruasa.
MTRH and the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) are currently focusing on NCDs and Population Health which are key components towards the realization of Universal Health Coverage.
