The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town will get two Cuban doctors in what Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago say will help in supporting the hospital's health system.

Speaking at the hospital when he presided over the opening of a modern kitchen and laundry, Mandago said his administration might be sponsoring doctors to study in Cuba in future.

"My government will be contemplating to sponsor our doctors to go and get specialized training in Cuba, this will help locals to get specialized treatment in the county without traveling abroad," he said.

The Mandago-led administration also helped set up the four Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds at the cost of Sh50 million bringing to 20 the ICU beds at the second largest public hospital in the country.

The county boss also revealed that his administration will built mortuaries in Ziwa and Kesses to assist in decongestion MTRH funeral home.

He thanked MTRH for its efficient service delivery to locals in the North Rift and neighbors in East and Central Africa.

Mandago later inspected construction of the road from Riley Mother & Baby Hospital to the new Microwave Incinerator that will be the utilized for disposal of clinical waste by MTRH, all County Hospitals in the region and all private hospitals in the region.
