The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town has launched a Sh5.5 million stimulation laboratory.
According to hospital's Chief Executive Officer Dr Wilson Aruasa, the facility will help nurses master their skills through a hands-on clinical experience.
"The area of focus will include; Intensive Care, Pediatrics, Maternity and general nursing among others," said Dr Aruasa after officially opening the centre on Monday.
"The Lab will be equipped with hi-tech mannequins that will simulate symptoms, diseases, and conditions that nurses are likely to see in a real care setting," he added
The MTRH boss reiterated that through this, registered nurses will earn contact hours through continuing education courses that will be offered in the simulation lab.
The Lab will be run by the Clinical Nurse Educators. Nurses in the Counties that refer patients to the second largest public hospital in the country will also benefit from the facility.
"The lab will also be handy for students from the MTRH College of Health Sciences and there will be also an observation room where the coordinator can watch the student and instructors perform the skills," said Dr Aruasa.
