Business in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu county went on as usual on Monday as residents ignored calls by the National Super Alliance (Nasa) to carry out anti-IEBC protests.Eldoret is perceived to be Jubilee's home turf.Speaking at at the Eldoret Polytechnic on Monday, Kesses MP Swarrup Mishra said there was no need for the demos since the high political temperature in the country is already hurting economic growth."There is so much tension. Banks fear lending money and most business activities are at the lowest level," Mishra is quoted by a local daily. The Jubilee MP further warned the Opposition team lead by Raila Odinga of taking the country to the wrong direction.
"They are always coming up with demands that are unworkable. It seems they don't want elections and in that case, President Kenyatta will remain in power," added the legislator.
A section of Eldoret residents also expressed their displeasure with the demos.
"The protests only serve to cause suffering to us. NASA should find other ways of pushing their demands," a trader,Ben Kiptoo, noted.
Things were however different in Embu county which is perceived to be President Uhuru Kenyatta's stronghold as a section of residents thronged the streets to demanding the removal of IEBC officials led by CEO Ezra Chiloba accused if bungling the August 8 poll.
