According to the locals interviewed on Friday by hivisasa.com, if the doctors strike, patients who will have no means to visit private hospitals will succumb to diseases they are suffering from.

Peter Kipngetich, a resident in Eldoret said the facility has been key in the region and the last time the doctors held such a strike, a number of patients died due to the lack of health services.

“We only depend on the Hospital as the only best referral public facility and we are sad to hear that there is a planned strike and we would like the union to call off the strike and negotiate with the Government,” said Kipng'etich

Another resident from Eldoret identified as Caroline Mibei pleaded with the Government to ensure that they hold talks with the medics so that the strike can be averted on time.

This comes at a time KMPDU has warned that doctors at the facility may e forced to stop rendering services if the government does not address demands of paying specialized doctors allowances.

Specialized doctors who also lectures have been on strike since March 1, 2018.
