Several vehicles belonging to Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki were on Saturday damaged, following an attack.
They were pelted with stones by individuals believed to be supporters of governor Jackson Mandago.
The incident happened when Buzeki's convoy was making its way into the Eldoret town's Central Business District (CBD).
According to eyewitnesses, supporters waving Mandago's posters pelted stones to Buzeki's convoy.
After the incident, supporters of the two camps clashed forcing police to lobe teargas canisters in a bid to disperse them.
Several people were injured.
"I had just landed from Nairobi and was in the process of thanking my supporters who voted for me in the nominations. The supporters of my competitor started pelting us with stones and injuring my supporters," said Buzeki as quoted by the Standard.
The billionaire business mogul lost to governor Mandago during the nominations but has since disputed the results saying the process was not free and fair.
He is expected to vie for the seat as an independent candidate.
