Police in Eldoret have launched an investigation into the disappearance of an Eldoret textile company, Ken Nit, employee Elija Gao.

According to Eldoret West Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Samuel Mutunga, the employee who is also the company's Workers Union chairman might he been hijacked.

Speaking at his office in Eldoret town, Friday, Mutunga confirmed that the employee was hijacked while on his way to work early in the morning.

Initial reports by the police indicate the incident followed an election that was recently held at the company in which Gao won.

"There was an election amongst the workers at the company and what followed was a report of the hijacking of the elected chairman," said Mutunga.

"The incident happened at Kapsoya estate and we have launched an investigation to ascertain the truth," he added.
