Multi-national motor vehicle maker, Nissan, is considering setting up an assembling plant in Eldoret town.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago convinced visiting team from Nissan Kenya, giving reasons why Eldoret presents the best business option, being a connection point to seven East African countries, a market nitch that promises serious sales.
"Eldoret town not only coordinates 10 counties but also a link to east and central Africa countries."
"Also, we have several learning institutions offering mechanical engineering courses, so we have enough manpower," said Mandago.
Managing Director of Nissan Kenya, Jabulani Ndabambi revealed that they have a new hybrid of automobile vehicles which are zero emissions, rechargeable and also uses solar panel. Eldoret could be used to pilot the hybrid vehicle.
Ndabambi led the firm's delegation for a courtesy visit at the Governor's office on Tuesday.
Eldoret is awaiting coronation to attain the city status, raising business and trade prospects for companies.
Moreover, Eldoret is the business epicentre of up to 10 counties in North and Sourh Rift regions.
The town also boasts of the adequate transport system, with Eldoret International Airport having plans to have regular flights to Entebbe.
Also, there's a rail transport network connecting the rest of East Africa.
