The University of Eldoret (UoE) will soon launch e-learning programme to enhance distance learning for enrolled students.

Speaking at the Eldoret Town campus on Wednesday, Prof Judith Bahemuka, the founding chancellor of the institution, said e-learning will expand the reach of the institution.

Prof Bahemuka said the programme will not only target Kenyan students but also students from the East African region and beyond whilst offering convenience.

“The university under my leadership will use modern technology in imparting knowledge such as the use of recent laboratory equipment, modernising our library, the use of internet where students research work will be done promptly and employing the most qualified staff, this will help us go hand in hand with vision 2030,” she said.

The chancellor also revealed that plans were underway to raise funds for building a modern sporting facility to help nurture students' talents. She also said the institution intends to partner with investors to offer affordable accommodation for the growing number of students.

“We will partner with investors who are willing to work with us to build hostels for our children. Since the cost of renting houses in town is rising, this initiative will help them get houses at an affordable rates," she added.
