The County Government of Uasin Gishu is in the process of restructuring the Eldoret water and Sanitation Company after the firm made a loss of Sh71 million during the last financial year.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday from his office in Eldoret town, the County Governor of Uasin Gishu, Jackson Mandago said that the county government is going to speed up all the efforts to turn around the activities at the water company.
"We have already gone ahead and recruited a new board of directors which we hope will bring sanity at the water company. We want to ensure that all the residents of this county receive the much needed services from this firm,” said Mandago.
The Governor went ahead and said that the new board of directors is going to bring sanity and also accountability in the water supply and also the management of the company.
"We want to ensure that the water company runs without relying from the county government for funds. It is such a shame to see this firm making such losses,” said Mandago.
Mandago urged all the residents to cooperate with the water company and ensure that all the water bills arrears are paid.
"It is through these bills that the company is able to operate efficiently and smoothly. If you fail to pay your bills on time, then you are slowing down the services of the water company. I also take this opportunity to urge all the residents to ensure that they use the little water that is available wisely,” said Mandago.
