Wheat farmers in Uasin Gishu County are happy following the excellent performance of their crops.

Farmers who expect to reap their crops next month said that unlike years before, they performance of their week has increased.

Speaking in Turbo on Monday, Richard Lagat, Uasin Gishu Wheat Farmers Association boss linked the good performance to the subsidised of fertilizers, which many farmers afforded.

“We are really excited about the performance of the wheat. We thank the government for subsidizing the fertilizers and made it possible to farmers to afford,” said Lagat.

The farmers also acknowledged the county government for their efforts of education farmers on the basics of growing wheat.

“Our governor, Jackson Mandago funded various seminars where farmers were educated on the modern ways of growing wheat. We really thank him and we urge him to continue empowering farmers so that we can emerge to be the best county economically,” added Lagat.
