Youth in Eldoret on Friday held a vigil in honour of fallen Kenya Defence Forces soldiers who died in Somalia.

The youth eulogised the fallen soldiers.

The youth under the umbrella Genesis Poetry Umbrella recited poems in honour of the soldiers.

They urged Kenyans to embrace peace at this time when the nation is mourning the loss of its gallant sons and daughters.

The youth called on Kenyans to shun tribalism and embrace unity.

"All of us should stay together, let us avoid divisionism," read one of the poems recited during the event.

The vigil was held days after KDF soldiers deployed in Somalia were attacked by Al Shabaab militants killing a dozen of them.

It sis not clear how many soldiers were killed during the attack although reports indicate they could be more than 60.
