Eldoret West Police Boss Smollett Munyianzi has urged youths in the area to start business projects and shun alcohol abuse.

Speaking at Huruma Grounds in Eldoret on Thursday where he oversaw destruction of 5,000 cartoons of impounded illegal alcohol, the Eldoret West OCPD said youths can make their lives more meaningful if they take part in business.

He said many youths are being lured into crime and drug abuse and end up wasting their lives.

“I would urge and also encourage youths in Eldoret and adjacent towns to venture into business instead of wasting time and money drinking,” he said.

Munyianzi said alcohol has wasted and also ruined lives of many energetic youths in the area adding that most youths have been lured into abusing drugs by peers and out of desperation for lacking jobs.

Munyianzi said the crackdown will continue in order to completely get rid of illegal drinks in Eldoret.

“We are going to fight and fight so that we can make Eldoret a sober place for development,” he said.

The police boss asked residents to give information on people they suspect are still brewing and selling illegal alcoholic drinks.

Meanwhile, Munyianzi warned street children against sniffing and drinking alcohol leftover from the destroyed brews saying some of the drinks were poisonous and could result to death.

This comes after a street boy died at Huruma estate in Eldoret after allegedly drinking expired liquor that had been dumped in the estate.
