Despite not producing the top candidate in Uasin Gishu county for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results that were released on Tuesday, Hill School was arguably the top performing school in the county.

This is after 25 of its candidates scored over 400 marks out of the possible 500.

According to the school's Headteacher Emel Sitienei, this was the best results the school has ever registered in its history.

The top student the public boarding Primary school Debby Cheptum scored 419 marks.

"Marks for our top student dropped from 431 to 419 but our quality marks in terms of over 400's improved from 11 last year to 25 and we are very happy with the performance," Sitienei said on Monday.

"We've put in place a good program that gets our results. We work together as teachers and parents as well as pupils are we are glad our commitment to quality education has always been paying off for us," he added.

Apart from Hill school, other schools that registered a high number of candidates who had over 400 marks in Uasin Gishu include Little Lambs Academy with 23 candidates and Queen of Angels Academy that produced the best two candidates in the county and also had 15 with over 400 marks.
