Striking nurses at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town are now accusing the Salaries and Renumeration Commission (SRC) of biasness.
The over 800 nurses who held a demonstration in Eldoret town on Monday claimed SRC has downgraded their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) by reducing their salaries.
Led by the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) MTRH branch chairman Kennedy Orangi, the nurses wondered why SRC had approved CBA's giving hefty pay to Doctors and Civil servants while declining to approve theirs.
"We want to know whether we are part of workers in this government because how can they approve salary increment to others but when it comes to us they say we are being overpaid," lamented Orangi.
"This is discrimination of the highest order and we will now allow it," he added.MTRH nurses have been on strike since June 1 demanding for the implementation of a CBA they signed with Hospital's management in 2013.
The Hospital has however declined to implement the CBA, saying they were waiting for SRC's input first.
The CBA addresses several issues among them salary increment and promotions.
