Eldoret water and sewerage company (ELDOWAS) is determined to reduce water shortage that is being witnessed in the county.
Speaking during a consultative meeting on how to conserve Kaptagat forest on Friday, ELDOWAS chairman Cornelius Chepsoi said they are considering ways of ensuring that there is enough water.
"We have started a project to expand Egarin dam which will be completed in march after which we will produce an additional ten thousand cubic meters of water," he said.
He said that ELDOWAS only produces thirty-six thousand cubic meters against the demand of fifty thousand cubic meters.
"Water rationing will continue until the Egarin project is complete and I urge Eldoret residents to bear with us," he said.
He added the conservation as a water catchment area will also help in provision of water thus taps will not dry up.
