Kisii county elected members of the county assembly should elect a person of integrity to fill the post of speaker, Kerosi Ondieki, the former speaker has said.Ondieki dropped out of the race citing that his family is uncomfortable with the position following his many wrangles with the administration.

Ondieki urged the MCAs to elect a person of integrity, one who understands the law best. 

“The MCAs should elect someone who is able to interpret the law properly and control the House,” he said.

“I want to thank the people for giving me an opportunity to serve them as the speaker and the good support despite the many wrangles,"  he added.

He confirmed that he will remain loyal to governor James Ongwae's administration.

" I will not desist from supporting Governor James Ongwae and his government,” he noted.

The election of the speaker is slated for Thursday.

Contestants from South Mugirango and Bonchari constituencies have been tipped as the favorites.
