Speaking in Nakuru on Wednesday under the Umbrella SUPKEM Nakuru, the leaders led by Athman Khatib said Kenyans have the opportunity to make change by ensuring they elect competent leaders.
They called on the government to ensure security for all Kenyans during this moment when Kenyans are making a decision through the polls.
On the issue of representation the clerics called for their inclusivity in the nominations to the county assembly, National and Senate houses from all the political parties.
“We appeal to Kenyans to elect leaders who are competent. We also call on the government to ensure security for all Kenyans and lastly we call for Muslims inclusivity in the nominations to the county assembly, Senate and National Assembly” said Khatib.
The forum was also attended by Nakuru Gubernatorial Candidate on independent ticket John Mututho who assured the Muslim community in Nakuru of his support once in office.
The former Nacada chair also called on the Muslim community and all religious leaders in Nakuru to remember the nation in prayer during this electioneering period.
“My appeal to you is to remember the nation in prayer as we go forth to the polls and I can assure you I personally will ensure peace and if defeated I will accept but if there are irregularities then shall I move to court,” he said.
This even as Kenyans count less than 5 days to the August 8th polls.
