The former lawmaker said that residents must elect an MP who will continue the development agenda left behind by the  former MP George Muchai.

Mwathi said that Kabete people have an opportunity to elect a leader that will fight for their rights just like Muchai did.

“Kabete people should elect a leader who will help them solve their problems,” said Mwathi.

Mwathi also asked all aspirants seeking the Kabete parliamentary seat to conduct their campaigns peacefully.

He said there is no need for politicians to engage in activities that will disrespect other leaders and people.

Mwathi further asked politicians to spread peace messages as they traverse the constituency in search of votes.

The Kabete parliamentary seat was left vacant following the death of its lawmaker George Muchai.

Muchai together with his three aides was murdered by armed gunman early last month along the Uhuru Highway in Nairobi.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has since set May 4 for the by-election.
