Mong’are, a renowned critic of incumbent Governor John Nyagarama also challenged residents to elect MCAs with legal background to help in formulation of regulations and other legislations to reduce expenses incurred by the assembly in hiring legal services.

In his exclusive interview with local reporters at his Sironga home on Sunday, the Ford Kenya Senator said the county risked suffering another five years if people of integrity are not elected.

“I want to urge my fellow residents from Nyamira County to be extremely keen when electing people in 2017. We want sober MCAs and Governor who understands fully the devolved systems of governance to boost our economic growth,” he said.

“My wish is that even when electing the MCAs, they should consider people who understand the law because there are so many regulations that should be crafted and passed. The current crop of MCAs entirely depends on county legal advisors who are very few,” he added.

He said the current leadership within the county had lost focus and accused them of grand corruption and maladministration.

“We are likely to suffer for another five years if a total overhaul isn’t done next year. There is grand corruption in the county because we elected incompetent MCAs and Governor who doesn’t understand devolution. As Senator, I’ve been fighting alone to restore sanity but in vein,” he said.
