The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced it would ensure prisoners are registered as voters, before the one month exercise elapses.
The registration exercise kicked off January 16 to February 14, 2017.
"In order to enhance the right of prisoners to participate in the electoral process and in compliance with the Supreme Court decision, the Commission resolved to gazette prisons as registration centres.''
Chairman Wafula Chebukati added: ''The actual registration will commence from 20th–27th February 2017.
IEBC also said prisoners would be allowed to vote for the presidential seat only, in August 8, polls.
''Accordingly, we are making proposals on regulations to govern the participation of prisoners in elections,'' Chebukati said Tuesday.
