The election of Kisii county assembly speaker David Kombo is set to be challenged in court as a youth group prepares to log a petition on the same.
According to the youth leader Elias Nyamwange, they were not convinced if the 82 years old speaker will be able to carry its mandate promptly and they have collected enough evidence that the speaker allegedly bribed the members of Kisii county assembly to vote for him.
Speaking during a press conference at Kisii sports club on Thursday the youths said that they want a young energetic leader who will give the county governor humble time to work and deliver all his promises in the next five years.
“We will file our petition on Friday and we hope the court will be able to nullify his reelection as we need a better speaker who won’t survive through bribery,” he said.
Nyamwange claimed that the elected speaker is not fit to hold such a powerful office as his election was marred with irregularities and hence qualified for gross misconduct.
