The Law Society of Kenya was forced to nullify the election of North Rift chairman.
This was after two candidates obtained the same number of votes. The current chair Zephania Yego tied with a newcomer Lawyer Stanley Kagunza with each getting 76 votes."There was no winner for the position of chairperson after two candidates tied at 76 votes," the LSK North Rift Electoral Commission chair Henry Kenei stated as quoted by the Star."Regulations indicate we must have a special general meeting to discuss the way forward," Kenei added.According to Kenei, the meeting will take place in the next few days.In the other races, Aseso Omollo beat Mercy Ruto in the secretary general post while Michael Wabomba won the assistant secretary general post after defeating Emily Chesang.In the vice chairperson position, Sammy Mathai was defeated by Aggrey Karani while Tecla Tum retained her position as treasurer.The exercise which took place at the High Court in Eldoret involved lawyers from Eldoret, Kital, Kapenguria and Iten.
