The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) now says election Operation plan 2017 is in place and Kenyans should be assured of free and fair elections.
According to outgoing IEBC commissioner Thomas Letangule, the commissioners will work towards fulfilling the recommendations as well as areas of improvement given by the joint parliamentary committee formed to look into their removal.H ehowever called on the politicians to stop politicizing the whole issue of IEBC but rather give them a conducive environment to deliver to Kenyans.
"With this, we hope to restore the public confidence before and after elections. Earlier electoral bodies have faced ejection from office before their time is due and thus the politicians should stop politicizing the issue and instead give us conducive environment to thrive and deliver to Kenyans,"he said.
IEBC vice chair, Lilian Mahiri Saja advised those who will assume office to ensure they deliver their services fairly without fear or favour.
The two were speaking during Letangule's thanksgiving ceremony at his home in Kampi ya Moto in Rongai, Nakuru and were accompanied by their colleagues Yusuf Nzibo and Mohammed Alawi.
