Over 1,800 police officers have been deployed to provide security to all the 868 polling stations, six constituency tallying centres and one county tallying centre in Uasin Gishu.

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan said at least two police officers will be deployed in each of the polling centres across the county.

Addressing the press in his Eldoret office on Monday, Hassan further said another special team of police officers will be strategically deployed in selected areas so as to be able to respond to any security emergency that might emerge during the voting.

He however assured locals of their security and asked them to come out in large numbers and exercise their constitutional right.

"Voters are assured of maximum security during the elections day and should not have anything to worry about. They only need to come out and vote for their preferred candidates," said Hassan.

"Security has been beefed up across the county and he are optimistic this election will go on smoothly and remain peaceful thereafter," he added.

The County Commissioner however warned that nobody will be allowed to hold demonstrations along the busy Uganda road, be it during or after the elections.

"Those with the habit of going to the streets to protest should be warned that we have done enough practise and we will deal with them accordingly," Hassan said.
