Parliament has passed the 14 member team proposed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Cord leader Raila Odinga following weeks of standoff on the IEBC stalemate.

The 14 member team is expected to present its result to parliament on the strategy of reforming the electoral commission in a month's time.

The joint select committee is expected to engage experts as well as views from the stakeholders to bring to an end the issue of IEBC stalemate.

Among the MPs set to sit in the committee include Moses Kuria, Junet Mohammed, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Senator James Orengo among others.

In support of the motion tabled before parliament Ruaka MP TJ Kajwang urged the committee not to focus on the sideshows.

Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo argued that the loopholes of voting via sms must be sealed if 2017 elections are to be fair.

The final report by joint select committee which will be passed by two third of the 14 member team will be approved by Majority and Minority leaders.
