Residents of Bomariba ward in Kisii South sub-county have threatened to protest following the delayed disbursement of bursary funds.

The residents said the bursaries in the ward were not allocated to students and the area MCA Protus Moindi is yet to give an explanation.

“Last year we applied for bursary funds and submitted the forms to the MCA’s office for processing. Until today the money has not been released.  We want to know where the money is because this is a different year we should also apply for the funds to help parents settle fee balances,” said Lukas Nyakundi.

He accused the workers at the MCA’s office for being rude when asked why the money has not been released.

“The office workers don’t know how to handle people. They don’t want to listen to our questions. The MCA should kick them out and bring new ones who will boost service delivery,” he added.

Wilfred Kebati said locals will be mobilized to protest so that the MCA will come out to explain where last year’s bursary went yet they applied.

“Demonstrations will only help us to get an explanation. Other wards received the funds but Bomariba didn’t. before we are asked to apply for the funds this year, we must know what happened to last year’s funds,” he said.
